When Can I Take the Dlab Again

1. DLAB Before MEPS Physical?

   So I'g really aiming to get 1N3.
   I've talked to two recruiters (There wasn't one in my town, and so I spoke with one from somewhere else. And then a new one came to my town, and then he handed me off.) and one is saying that I can take the DLAB before I take my physical while the other is saying I have to take my physical first.
   My problem:
   I really don't want to DEP into a job that I don't necessarily want without knowing if I authorize for the above jobs. I'm prepared to wait as long as I accept to in social club to become Linguist - IF I pass the DLAB. If not, I'll just DEP open general.

   So my question:
   Could I have the DLAB before I practise the physical to know if I qualify?
   If non, do I accept to DEP in when I go to MEPS before taking the test? (The Trivial Rock MEPS simply tests most twice every month from what she's telling me, so there would be about a week'due south wait before I could take the exam.)

   Back in my Day (2004, I always like to say dorsum in my Day. Makes me feel old.) Essentially what happened is I went through the Physical, put in my job 'wish' list, and so pushed over to take the DLAB since Linguist was on my wish list. Failed it miserably and was given another job on my listing. Was told if I had pass and then they would most probable put me in for a linguist slot. I'm not 100% thats how it works, or if I was told the truth. Yet, if you lot're sure you want to join shouldn't affair especially since you're going to put downwards Open General, ammirite?

   Did you lot accept to DEP in the day you did your physical even though you hadn't taken the test yet?

If I'm remebering correctly, I DEP'd in subsequently I failed miserably, I remeber going in talking to the chore guys they signed me upward for the DLAB, found out I failed went dorsum they looked at what else I was qual'd for so they put me in as for 1N0, 1N1, SERE, TACP, and Aerial Gunner, and I got stuck with 1N0 near a calendar month later. And so from what I remeber from Missouri MEPS is I talked to the Job guys, took the DLAB, talked to the Chore guys, then took the oath and got my DEP card thingie.

8. I went to MEPS in Feb with the intent to put both linguist options downwardly equally my #1 and #two job choices. I had to take the ASVAB and physical test first, at which signal they had me write downwardly my meridian chore choices and bent expanse. Since I was not able to have the DLAB until the day after, I technically was not qualified for a linguist job and could not listing it. Afterward I passed it the next mean solar day, they were able to put them on the height of my chore listing, bumping the bottom ii job choices off of it.

   This was almost exactly what I went through when I dep'd in back in April. Been waiting for a linguist slot e'er since to no avail. Finally told my recruiter I'd take 1n0, 1n1, or 1n4 if I couldn't go 1n3 or 1a8 here in July. Best of luck to yous OP.

10. I'm heading to MEPS side by side Tuesday with the intent of making it as a linguist...but I don't know how realistic that is right at present. My recruiter told me that I would have to come up back at a later on date to take the DLAB though as information technology is only offered on Fridays and you have to already be DEP'd to accept it...

11. I don't recall writing any jobs down until subsequently I took the EDPT on my second trip to MEPS.

12. I had to DEP in, then go back to MEPS to have the DLAB. It was a pain in the ass, but I'yard pretty sure that's how information technology works for everyone.

14. I've been scouring the forums and the FAQ posted, but tin can't find an answer. I would presume its taken subsequently a passing ASVAB score is achieved, but are you actually DEP'd in as a 1A8 and then take the DLAB?

15. For me, it went something like this:

    First, I went to MEPS and ASVAb'd. My Air Force liaison noted that I had opted to stay an extra twenty-four hours to take the DLAB, and told me that he would talk to me near AFSC selection later I took care of that.

    After I took the DLAB, I met with the AF liaison, selected 1A8 and 1N3, and and then swore into the DEP.

    I'm non sure if my experience is typical. Your mileage may vary.

16. You cannot be assigned 1A8 without a passing DLAB.

    In my instance I had booked another job already but decided to effort for 1A8, so the recruiter sent me back to MEPS again. I would suggest discussing your involvement in taking the DLAB with your recruiter before you go upwards there the first time.

17. I went back to MEPS a calendar month or ii after my initial visit to accept the DLAB, just aye, you need to take the DLAB before you book either 1A8 or 1N3.
